ANCESTRAL TRADITIONS
Day 01 [10 OCTOBER, 2025].
Today, our journey begins in Kathmandu, the capital of Nepal. Its historic center is dotted with temples and places of worship, such as the impressive Swayambhunath Temple, also known as "The Monkey Temple." From its heights, we will enjoy panoramic views of the city and the surrounding mountains before heading out to taste the delicious local food and enjoy our first night in the country.
Day 02 [OCTOBER 11, 2025].
After a good sleep to recover from the flight, we will visit the Asan market to capture the vibrant essence of local life and enjoy a visit to the Kumari Ghar building, where the Kumari – the living goddess – of Nepal resides. We will visit the Boudhanat stupa and the Swayambha park, which houses the largest Buddha statue in the country. As night approaches, we will head to the Hindu temple area of Pashupatinath, an ideal place to observe and understand Hindu funeral rituals. The cremation of bodies takes place next to the famous Bagmati River, where we will be surrounded by locals and saddhus. If we're not too tired, we will stay to watch the fantastic puja aarti ceremony that takes place at dusk. After this experience, we will enjoy a local dish and head to our accommodation to rest and prepare for the incredible experience ahead.
Day 03 [OCTOBER 12, 2025].
In the morning, we will head to Bhaktapur, one of the cultural gems of the Kathmandu Valley. This medieval city, known as "The City of Devotees," is famous for its traditional Newar architecture, its majestic temples, and its lively squares. Near the Durbar Square (a UNESCO World Heritage site), we will be able to admire Nepal's tallest pagoda, standing at 33 meters. We will also explore its streets, filled with artisans working on pottery, a tradition that has been alive for centuries. After returning to Kathmandu, we will have some free time, where we can shop for souvenirs or make last-minute purchases for our adventure. Our night bus will be waiting near our hotel. Tonight, we will sleep on the road.
Day 04 [OCTOBER 13, 2025].
We will have breakfast at our hotel in Pokhara and then drive to Dharapani. We will enter the Kali Gandaki valley, where we will pass between cliffs covered by lush nature, witnessing the intersection of the majesty of the mountains and the serenity of the valley. We will pass through the village of Darbang, with its picturesque landscapes and cultivated terraces, and spend the night in a local family's home.
Day 05 [OCTOBER 14, 2025].
We will begin our trek after breakfast. The trail is moderate, though long; we will spend the next 7 hours crossing forests interspersed with cultivated terraces, where we can observe the local population busy with various agricultural tasks. We will pass through the villages of Takam and Sibang, where we will stop for lunch before heading to the last village of our walk: the village of Lulang, at an altitude of 2410m. We will be welcomed by the community and witness the everyday life of the place. We will sleep in guesthouses and rooms in local families' homes.
Day 06, 07 [OCTOBER 15/16, 2025].
The "honey hunting" ceremony is a unique spectacle. To witness it, we will need to do a simple trek that will take us to the mountainous areas where the hives are located. We will accompany the brave honey hunters as they challenge the bees and observe the ceremony that accompanies the harvest, including the key moment when the collectors throw long ladders made from natural fibers down the gorge. In the afternoon, we will return to the village, where we will have the opportunity to enjoy the celebratory dances that accompany the honey gathering. We will spend these two nights in Lulang.
Day 08 [OCTOBER 17, 2025].
After breakfast, we will descend to Darbang, where a vehicle will pick us up and take us back to Pokhara. The rest of the day will be for reflecting on the experience and enjoying a well-deserved rest. The city is famous for being the starting point of many of the toughest expeditions to the Himalayan mountain range, so it has many spas, some of which are Ayurvedic in tradition. Perhaps this is a good time to relax and disconnect with a good massage (not included in the price of the trip). We will spend the night in Pokhara.
Day 09 [OCTOBER 18, 2025].
We will explore Pokhara, where we can visit the Bindabasi Temple, dedicated to the reincarnation of the goddess Kali, the Gupteshwor Mahadev Cave (with its labyrinthine passages honoring the god Shiva), the strange Annapurna Butterfly Museum, or the World Peace Pagoda, a Buddhist stupa designed to provide a meeting place for all faiths. We will wander through the streets of the city, explore its markets, and enjoy the local hospitality. The farewell dinner will be at a traditional restaurant – the last chance for those who haven't yet tried Dal Bhat or Buff Sha Bale – marking the end of our time in this city. We will sleep in our hotel in Pokhara.
Day 10 [OCTOBER 19, 2025].
Our adventure comes to an end. Today is a return day, where we will organize ourselves to take the flights or buses from Pokhara. After having breakfast together, we say our goodbyes until the next expedition, looking forward to meeting again. See you soon!
