SYRIA AFTER THE SILENCE
From Damascus to Palmyra and Aleppo, we will explore some of the ancient communities that have shaped the history of Western Asia.

Summary

Crossroads of civilizations

For thousands of years, Syria has been one of the world's great cultural centers. Phoenicians, Romans, Byzantines, Crusaders, and various Islamic dynasties left behind cities, temples, and fortresses that still tell the story of the trade routes that connected Asia, Africa, and Europe.

On this expedition, we will visit some of these key locations, such as the medieval fortress of Krak des Chevaliers, and learn more about modern-day Syria, discovering places where historical memory and the present intertwine. From villages where Aramaic is still spoken to spending time with locals, who will tell us firsthand what life is like after the arrival of the new regime.

⮕ LEBANON EXTENSION: This expedition offers the possibility of adding a 4-day/3-night extension (October 17-21, 2026) for an extra supplement [+€800/person] to visit Lebanon. Between the Mediterranean Sea and the Chouf Mountains, this small country brings together millennia of history: ancient Phoenician cities, majestic Roman temples, and a culture marked by centuries of encounters between civilizations. If you are interested in including this extension in your trip, please indicate this on your booking form.

There, we will explore the ruins of this ancient caravan oasis, one of the most important enclaves on the trade routes of Antiquity. Throughout the visit, we will also delve into the recent history of the place and contemplate such emblematic vestiges as the Roman theater and the walls of the Temple of Bel.
